Greebles

2024
Various materials such as fabric, foam rubber, pool noodles, zippers, cardboard, paint and glitter

The name Greebles, like the title of this series of small relief sculptures, refers to details in the decor of science fiction films that have become an important part of futuristic design since the 1970s. These tiny, often functional-looking elements lend spaceships, machines and environments a complex, technical aesthetic, intended to reinforce the feeling of advanced technology, although they usually have no actual function. Greebles were made famous by films such as Star Wars and have since become an iconic stylistic device in the world of science fiction. The series draws on materials and forms of expression that have already been used in installations such as La grande illusion (2023) or Gravity? (2022).
